The NSF Workshop Reports Collection

The National Science Foundation's (NSF) Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) has a long history of funding community “visioning” workshops that aim to bring together experts from academia, industry, and government to engage in open discussions about future research, education, and infrastructure topics and issues. A primary goal of these workshops is to articulate clear, long-term roadmaps, comprising a set of compelling questions, challenges, and opportunities, along with approaches that may yield new knowledge, breakthroughs, and capabilities. Workshops can also foster new collaborations, helping to nurture and grow the CISE (and closely related) community(ies).

In many cases, CISE-funded workshops result in short reports that synthesize key findings and recommendations. These reports can be valuable resources for the broader community in the long term, catalyzing further dialogue and visioning and serving as references long after the workshops have been held.

CISE is pleased to partner with the ACM Digital Library to make available in a single location reports from CISE-funded workshops. Below you will find an initial set of reports from the last several years. As additional workshops are held and reports drafted, CISE and ACM will work to make them available here. Our hope is that archiving these reports in a single, easy-to-access place such as this website will enable the broader CISE research, education, and infrastructure communities to benefit from these activities.
